Women’s Basketball Player of the Week – Taylor Baudoin, Central Arkansas – Sr. – Forward – Columbus, Miss.Baudoin averaged 29.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in pair of wins, getting a career-high 30 points at McNeese before nearly equaling it three days later in a win over Nicholls. She shot 56.9 percent from the field and averaged five offensive rebounds per game – just one per game fewer than the Sugar Bears’ opponents. The Columbus, Miss., native equaled Nicholls’ second-half scoring total with 18, going 8-for-11 while helping to hold the Colonels to 6-of-22. She played all 40 minutes without a turnover against Nicholls and committed just two in 38 minutes at McNeese. In scoring all 12 Sugar Bear points in first quarter at McNeese, she eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career along with a career single-game high of 30. The Sugar Bears (18-7, 11-3 SLC) are on a three-game win streak and sit at third place in the conference standings. They have a pair of top-tier matchups on hand for this week, hosting Stephen F. Austin (21-4, 13-1 SLC) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. CT in a rematch of last year’s Southland tournament championship. They travel to their fellow defending regular season co-champion Abilene Christian (15-9, 9-5 SLC) on Saturday at 1 p.m. Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school’s sports information director.
